When you isolate variables, you want to end up with y= something. Once you have done this with both equations, put both equations on both sides of an equal sign without the y.

what you do is you multiply the equation 8-x by 3
you should get 24-3x
then you add x to each side and solve!!
if im right you should get x=5 and y=9

Class was kind of hard today but when you think about it was just adding on to a muntistep equasion. some of the homework was a little confusing.

I found a different way to solve these equations. It involves adding.
y=3x-1
y=x+1
Make it so there is a number next to the =
1=3x-y
-1=x-y
eliminate the y, change the signs of everything else.
1=-x+y
combine
2=2x
solve this simple equation and substitute for x in any equation. y=1+1
y=2

Hey everyone! sup? Math was on the harder side today but I think if we keep going over it the rules will stick in our minds! I just came back from my first dance class and will be going to another one in an hour! I need to study for science and LA. But otherwise keep up the great work everyone, we did awesome and also don't get to crazed off sugar until tomorrow (b/c that is when i will be going crazy! :) ) OK, this is shorter b/c I have to eat! Talk you you all later and I will post more tonight!
